Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race Offers First-Ever One GREAT Challenge
Runners can now participate in both the 5K and 10K options with the first-ever virtual Great Race
PITTSBURGH, PA (August 12, 2020) – The first-ever virtual Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race establishes the One GREAT Challenge, encouraging participants to run both the 5K and 10K distances.
Participants challenging themselves to run both distances will earn three medals: a 5K finisher medal, 10K finisher medal, and the throwback-inspired One GREAT Challenge medal. They will also receive the Great Race tech shirt as well as the One GREAT Challenge t-shirt.
“My mother and I are running the challenge together this year,” said Karissa Febert, a Great Race participant. “I am most looking forward to running the 10K as part of the virtual challenge because I have never done a 10k before. I think running my first 10k virtually will help me improve my time and have fun without worrying about the pace of other runners in the race and comparing myself to them.”
The Great Race annually donates one dollar from every Great Race and Dollar Bank Junior Great Race registration to the Richard S. Caliguiri Amyloidosis Fund. This year, an additional five dollars will be donated to amyloidosis research for every One GREAT Challenge registration.
“We are excited to encourage runners to try new distances and take on new challenges with this year’s events,” said Brian Katze, Race Director. “We are also happy that this will help us continue our contributions to such an important cause.”
Runners have the option to add the challenge to their registration for just $25. Runners who are already registered can log into their Race Roster account and edit their registration to add the One GREAT Challenge.
