P3R Launches First-Ever Explore Your Parks Adventure in Partnership with Allegheny County Parks to Promote Corporate Wellness

P3R and Allegheny County Parks collaborate to create a first-of-its-kind adventure to inspire Pittsburgh’s professionals to keep moving

PITTSBURGH, PA (September 17, 2020) – P3R, Allegheny County Parks and Allegheny County Parks Foundation team up to offer the first-ever Explore Your Parks Adventure to promote corporate wellness within the FedEx Corporate Challenge community. During the month of October, FedEx Corporate Challenge runners are encouraged to complete a 3-mile distance in each of the nine beautiful Allegheny County Parks. All movement is encouraged, whether it is a walk, a run, a hike, or a jog.

“We are so excited to partner with the Allegheny County Parks to bring this new experience to our FedEx Corporate Challenge participants,” said Troy Schooley, CEO of P3R.  “It is so important to get outside, and we want to encourage everyone to move outdoors, especially in our local community. Participation will benefit the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, which helps improve, conserve, and restore these nine parks.”

In this first-ever self-guided challenge, participants can fully participate on their own time and with their own schedule. Every participant will receive an exclusive Explore Your Parks 16oz Camper Mug, and those who complete the entire challenge will earn a white MIIR water bottle with an Explore Your Parks sticker.

"We are so fortunate in this community to have nine parks with over 12,000 acres that our residents can use 365 days out of the year. In the midst of a global pandemic, that resource has never been more important,” said Allegheny County Executive, Rich Fitzgerald. “Ensuring that everyone in our community has access to outdoor recreation that is accessible and diverse is absolutely essential. We are grateful to P3R and the Parks Foundation for this partnership that highlights one more way to use our county parks."

Participants have the entire month of October to explore the nine parks and are encouraged to share their experience on social media using #alleghenycountyparks, #corporatechallenge, #runwithp3r and tag the park they are in to inspire others to get outside.

For every person who participates in the Explore Your Parks Challenge this October, 50% of net proceeds will go towards planting new trees in Allegheny County Parks, in partnership with the Allegheny County Parks Foundation Tree Fund.

“We focus on bringing together ideas, leadership, and resources to make the parks more sustainable and enjoyable for all,” said Allegheny County Parks Foundation Executive Director, Caren Glotfelty. “We hope that this adventure encourages participants to explore new spots in our community and inspires them to give back to nature.”
