Louisville Running Company launches 100 Mile Lou2Lex Virtual Ultra to Benefit COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Run the distance between Louisville and Lexington in Summer 2020

LOUISVILLE, KY (April 29, 2020)– Louisville Running Company, one of Kentucky’s premiere race management and operations companies, announced today the state’s most unique ultramarathon, the Lou2Lex Virtual Ultra. Over the course of summer 2020 (May 1- July 31), participants are challenged to run 100 miles to cover the equivalent distance of a scenic route between Cardinal Stadium in Louisville and Kroger Field in Lexington.

“Because this unique race is virtual, runners can participate wherever they are in the world,” said Michael Clemons, Owner of Louisville Running Company. “It’s a great way for new and experienced runners to challenge themselves- and invite friends and family members living out of state to participate in something both new and familiar.”

Participants are asked to keep track of their daily mileage and submit their results via the race website to see how their time compared to others. While it would be extra special for someone to complete the 100 miles in one day, participants can take as many days over the three months as needed to complete the ultra. At the end of July, all participants will receive a Kentucky-shaped finisher medal and a commemorative gender-specific tank top.

During the registration process, participants can choose to join Team Louisville or Team Lexington. For those who choose Team Louisville, a portion of your race registration will go to support the One Louisville: COVID-19 Response Fund. For those who choose Team Lexington, a portion of your race registration will go to support the Coronavirus Response Fund from United Way of the Bluegrass and Blue Grass Community Foundation. For those without a city preference, a portion of their race registration will go towards the state's Team Kentucky Fund. No matter which team a runner chooses, their registration will support the local community!
