Running USA Announces Conference Scholarship Nomination Period

Offers selected recipients chance to attend the 2020 Industry Conference in Las Vegas at minimal expense

(Sept. 20, 2019) – Running USA is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for its Industry Conference scholarships. This year’s conference is set for Feb. 9-11, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

For the second year, prospective conference attendees can apply for the Allan Steinfeld Conference Scholarship Program, which will assist a limited number of industry professionals who need help offsetting costs of conference attendance. The scholarship is open to first time conference attendees and covers two nights of lodging and event registration fees (attendees must be able to provide transportation to the event).

Stephanie Symington, marketing manager for Run Calgary, received the inaugural Allan Steinfeld Conference Scholarship in 2019.

Receiving the Allan Steinfeld Running USA scholarship gave me the opportunity to attend the 2019 Puerto Rico industry conference, which in turn allowed me the great privilege to connect with, and learn from some of the very best race organizers in the country,” Symington said.

Scholarships are available to individuals of Running USA member events currently in good standing. Scholarships will be awarded based on articulation of need and desire to attend the conference and will reflect the broadest representation of Running USA membership possible. Applicants must be first time attendees of the event.

“Our scholarship program continues to honor the legacy of Allan Steinfeld and his work to build the sport of road running into the dynamic industry that we know today,” said Running USA CEO Rich Harshbarger. “It’s important to offer access to our standout programming to those who might otherwise not be able to attend.”

Applications by industry professionals for an Allan Steinfeld Conference Scholarship can be submitted here. Individuals must be part of a Running USA member organization.

Nominations for other conference awards, including the Youth Program Grant, Hall of Champions, Rising Star and Women’s Leadership honors, will open in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for details.

Nomination submissions for the Conference Scholarship program must be completed by Friday, Oct. 18 at 5pm EST. If you have any questions about the awards program, please contact Leah Etling at leah@runningusa.org
