Fifty West Brewing Company Teams with the TQL Beer Series to Create Newest Race in the Series: the 50 West Mile

Mile-long race kicks off Flying Pig Marathon weekend; “Where the Flying Pig journey begins”

CINCINNATI (March 15, 2018) – Organizers of the TQL Beer Series and Flying Pig Marathon announced today a partnership with Fifty West Brewing Company to create “The 50 West Mile,” the second of three races in the annual series.

Now in its seventh year, the TQL Beer Series consists of the Bockfest 5K, recently held during Bockfest on March 2; the 50 West Mile, to be held Friday, May 3 during Flying Pig Marathon weekend; and the Hudepohl 14K/7K, run during Oktoberfest Zinzinnati weekend on September 21, 2019.

The 50 West Mile serves as the official kickoff to the Flying Pig Marathon weekend and is dubbed “Where the Flying Pig journey begins.” The May 3 race begins at 8 p.m. near Paul Brown Stadium and snakes along the downtown riverfront to the finish line where participants will find Skyline Chili Cheese Coneys, 50 West beer and an awesome after-party. The event regularly hosts more than 3,500 participants.

“The 50 West Mile is a great addition to the TQL Beer Series and an exciting way to kick off the Flying Pig Marathon weekend,” remarked Flying Pig executive director Iris Simpson Bush. “Their entrepreneurial spirit and contributions to our city’s brewing heritage make 50 West an ideal partner.”

“We are incredibly excited to partner with our friends behind The Flying Pig on the “The 50 West One Mile,” said 50 West founder and president Bobby Slattery. “Part of 50 West’s mission and brand includes our continued integration into this wonderful Greater Cincinnati running community. This partnership is such a fun way to further that involvement.  We believe in a life lived in balance, and we know this race and afterparty will showcase our mantra.”

The TQL Beer Series benefits the Over-The-Rhine Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation, a non-profit organization committed to making the Brewery District a healthy, balanced and supportive neighborhood economy by preserving, restoring and redeveloping our unique brewing history and historic urban fabric. The Cincinnati Brewing Heritage Trail is the organization’s signature plan, highlighting the historic buildings that helped create Cincinnati’s rich brewing history.
