NYRR Job: Manager, Virtual Running - Marketing and Runner Engagement

About the Department:

NYRR is developing virtual products to give more runners around the world access to racing and training communities, no matter where they live. The marketing and runner engagement manager will create marketing and engagement programs to build and strengthen the NYRR virtual running community and products and connect runners around the world.

The marketing and runner engagement manager will create marketing and engagement programs to build and strengthen the NYRR virtual running community and products and connect runners around the world. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative marketing strategies to grow NYRR virtual running products both nationally and internationally and work with cross-functional teams to implement
  • Partner with external and internal stakeholders to launch, support and grow virtual racing and training products
  • Manage and engage with existing virtual running communities including the NYRR Facebook Group and NYRR Strava Club
  • Develop, implement and manage programs to grow the virtual running community (i.e. Ambassador program) and connect runners throughout their virtual running journeys leveraging existing and new channels
  • Determine and track KPIs, offer marketing and product insights and share with key stakeholders 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Runner Products and Services, Strategy & Planning and Public Relations during the development, implementation and management of marketing and engagement programs
  • Partner with Marketing, Run Center and Event Development & Production teams to create and manage in-person activations for virtual racing, including activations at the TCS New York City Marathon, Popular Brooklyn Half, and United Airlines NYC Half, and group runs for virtual races throughout the year

Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities:

     Effectively manage employee performance through communication of expectations and standards 

     Prepare performance appraisals. Work with next level management (directors or department head as applicable) when employee performance does not meet standards 

     Provide effective feedback and coaching to employees, including potential areas of improvement

     Create goals for the team and individual employees 

     Encourage an environment of transparency, support, development, and growth 

     Delegate and distribute tasks and responsibilities appropriately

     Ensure employees and staff adhere to company policies and procedures 

     Make decisions based on best interest of organization

     Track employee attendance, if applicable

     Collaborate with Human Resources as support 

     Promote team culture that coincides with NYRR mission and core values

 

Job Requirements: 

Experience:

  • 3+ years of marketing experience, executing strategies
  • Experience developing creative marketing strategies and digital communities 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Skills and Attributes:

  • Creative mindset and willingness to test new concepts
  • Analytical mindset and problem solver
  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passionate about NYRR’s mission and the virtual running space
