Boston Road Runners Seek Board Members

Boston Road Runners Mission:

To foster and support an inclusive Greater Boston running community by creating an open, accessible, and welcoming environment for athletes of all background and experience levels across the region.

Board Description:

BRR Board is passionate about the community & making a positive impact. As a Board of Director, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team designed to build enthusiasm around running in Boston. You will be an integral part of the BRR organization with the opportunity to be a leader and build a community. 


Terms of Employment

  • Minimum 1-year commitment
  • Volunteer position, no salary



  • Must have minimum 5-years of experience in your respective field
  • Passionate about the community
  • Must actively promote Boston Road Runners
  • Able to move the organization forward greatly


Requirements / What we ask of our Board of Directors:

  • Attend quarterly Board Meetings (120 minutes) - Starting January 2019
  • Must be able to lead and facilitate the discussion
  • Must be proactive in voicing your thoughts and opinions thoroughly through the meeting
  • Failure to do so will result in automatic removal from the position


Board of Directors’ Duties

  1. Support and evaluate the chief executive. The board should ensure that the chief executive has the moral and professional support he or she needs to further the goals of the organization.
  2. Ensure effective planning. Boards must actively participate in an overall planning process and assist in implementing and monitoring the plan's goals.
  3. Enhance the organization's public standing. The board should articulate the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and garner support from the community.
