Running USA Attendees to Enjoy Happy Hour Thanks to HAL Sports
Colorado-based event production company signs agreement as “Official Happy Hour Sponsor”
DETROIT (Sept. 21, 2018) – Running USA, the national non-profit trade organization for the running industry, is pleased to announce that HAL Sports of Denver will sponsor Monday afternoon Happy Hour at the 2019 Industry Conference, and continue as a sponsor for the 2020 event.
Lonnie Somers, founder and CEO of Hal Sports and a longtime member of the Running USA board of directors, said that HAL Sports wished to contribute to one of the most fun – but also productive – portions of the annual conference. The happy hours are great opportunities for attendees to network and do business while enjoying the spirit of the event.
“We are excited to be a sponsor of Running USA and the Happy Hour. Starting out with both a small non-profit event and then an event company, it is because of the connections, offerings, and networking that Running USA provided to us that allowed HAL Sports to grow from nothing to what we are today. We hope our sponsorship gives back to Running USA and its members by showcasing that we came from just a small side business into a respected event company,” said HAL Sports co-owner Lonnie Somers.
HAL Sports is co-owned by Lonnie and Michelle Somers, who became active in the running industry 15 years ago in their efforts to raise funds for the Fetal Health Foundation, a non-profit the couple founded after their twin daughters - now healthy teens - needed emergency in-utero surgery. Rebranded HAL Sports in 2017, the Somers’ will celebrate their 10 year anniversary as race production professionals in 2019.
HAL stands for “healthy, active, living” and the company’s mission statement advocates having fun, staying positive and never giving up.
“We’re thrilled to welcome HAL Sports as the official happy hour sponsor of the event,” said Christine Bowen, vice president of programming, partnerships and operations for Running USA. “Their positive outlook on life is the perfect fit for this portion of the annual industry conference.”
Set for San Juan, Puerto Rico Feb. 10-12, 2019, the industry conference will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2020.
