2010 Rose Bowl Half-Marathon Takes Runners to the 50-Yard Line

Third edition will also feature a 1K kids’ race

PASADENA, Calif. – For the first time in its three year history, the Rose Bowl Half Marathon will take runners someplace very few ever get to go: the 50-yard line of one of the most historic stadiums in the country. Before the big game on Sunday, February 7, 2010 1,200 participants will make their way to the Rose Bowl to take on a half-marathon, 10K or 5K.

Athletes will be coming from Washington, New York, Michigan, American Samoa and elsewhere, including 2 half-marathoners from Brazil.

The 13.1 mile race takes athletes on a tour of the hills surrounding the famed stadium, and includes 9 miles of trails. The course has changed from its original design to offer runners a challenging, but more scenic, view of Pasadena. The 5K and 10K course makes its way around neighboring Brookside Golf Course, and all three races will finish inside the stadium.

The Rose Bowl Half Marathon will also feature a 1K kids’ race, a great way to keep the kids involved and active.

After the workout, runners will be treated to a top-quality finish festival, including a Michelob Ultra beer garden, wine tasting from Barefoot Wines, and some great music from AMP radio.

President Jack Caress says of the event, “The Rose Bowl has continuously provided us with one of the best settings for this amazing race. Runners will be able to challenge themselves while taking in some amazing views of Pasadena. I can’t wait to see everyone at the 50-yard line.”
